Why Shantaram? – Someone recommended it to me to read since I am going to India this December. A few people at the book club read it and enjoyed it as well.

What an excellent book!
I’ve already read it and it’s truly inspiring.
Makes me want to go to India.

It was really needed.
I completed the book yesterday finally. Madala started long after me but yesterday he caught up and overtook me.
Who would finish the book first?
There was war. At the coffee shop we were on the same page. I only beat him because he had to drive home.
I really read too slow. The secret I found out was to skip parts like the long descriptions. I read and reread and lost where I was in the book so many times that I must have read the book as many times as Shantaram wrote it.
Book was amazing. True reflection of Indian Mumbai culture. Non stop action. Lots of twists and turns. Lots and lots of descriptions. Maybe the movie won’t be very long because most of the book described features and clothes etc.
It is amazing that so much can happen to one man and he can still be alive to write about it. How a person can really change their life around.
