Luke Smith went for grandmother Alice on holiday because he got into trouble. He takes a road trip with his grandmother in her rickety landrover to the Karoo was obsessed with taking windmills. Anyone driving can relate how boring it is to drive through this terrain and without a decent music playlist you can go out of your mind. Luke meet a girl Emma, who they seem to be bumping into a few times on the trip, her father is raising funds for cancer riding from Bloemfontein to Cape Town. They meet a depressed sheep Delores in De aar Deaar who is meant for Sheep slaughter auction at the church bazaar. The road trip gets interesting as they journey on their way and takes selfies with a sheep who goes viral on the internet.
This book was a beautiful simple read for the holidays. Reminds us of our travels to our December holiday destination where we pass the Karoo and count windmills ourselves. We also once stopped in De Aar as we needed to go to the mosque in the area. We saw beautiful bird life near body of water before we reached De Aar. Small small town. Now we will always be reminded of this selfie sheep as we travel the karoo this holiday.
A troublemaker about to get kicked out of school. An eccentric grandmother with a canary yellow Land Rover and a camera.A girl who loves books.A sheep that turns into an internet sensation overnight.A long dusty road.An unforgettable journey.
