Great news Dietician Faaizah Asmal, Nabeela Mohamed life coach and Dr Faatima Ahmed Akoon will be assisting us once a week to answer some questions you may have about healthy living.

Dietician – Faaizah Asmal

Faaizah Asmal RD (SA) has completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics through the University of the Free State.

Following her community service at Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital, Faaizah has established her private practice in Bruma, Johannesburg; where she provides clients with evidence-based solutions for wellness, weight loss and disease prevention. She has contributed to magazines such as Cosmopolitan and Sisters Magazine and has appeared on the television talk show ‘Lets talk’, on iTV. Bringing her passion for healthy, tasty cooking to life she started the Healthy Cooking Program in 2013 where she hosts cooking demonstrations, teaching clients how to cook tasty, healthy and nutritious foods- food and health can deliciously co-exist!

Faaizah’s great passion in life is assisting others to feel and live healthier, by showing them, how to shop, cook and eat healthier and to embrace the wonderful benefits of mental and physical wellbeing. This isn’t always easy to do, that’s why she is here to help.

Outside of her work, Faaizah is an exercise enthusiast, an avid reader, and a proud mother of two young (and very busy!) girls.

 Medical doctor -Dr. Faatima Ahmed Akoon

Dr. Faatima Ahmed Akoon is a Medical doctor practicing in Benoni from a Wellness Centre called The Living Studio.  It aims to offer women in particular wellness services that are holistic, affordable and achievable.

Dr. Faatima Ahmed Akoon  is a  very passionate Fitness coach and Pilates instructor with a passion for training ladies holistically as well as a keen interest in rehabilitation and prevention of injuries.

Dr. Faatima Ahmed Akoon  qualified in 2008 from UCT and am currently still with UCT Sports Science institute specialising in sports and exercise medicine which is not only a speciality aimed at elite athletes but anyone requiring exercise with medical problems and/or injuries.

The Living Studio offers the following services:

– My General practice including Antenatal care and sonar as well as Pap smears.

– a beautician specialising in aesthetics, laser treatments, make up and hijab

– a biokineticist

– several pilates instructors as well as fitness instructors and dance instructors

– a Life Coach and psychologist

and of course Faaizah Asmal,  the dietician has a sessional room there on Mondays 8-12

They  run various bootcamps and lifestyle and diet workshops over weekends including TIBB workshops and the healthy  cooking Demos headed by Faaizah Asmal.

Living studio

Counselling life-coach : Nabeela Mohamed

Nabeela completed a BA psychology degree at the University of Johannesburg, and completed her honours degree through UNISA thereafter.  She then went on to Lifeline, where she established herself as a counsellor; combining psychotherapy techniques with person-centered counselling.

In 2013, she completed her Diploma in life-coaching and NLP.  NLP, neuro-linguistic-programming is a specialised form of therapy which targets the subconscious mind to deal with trauma, creating and modifying behaviours, and ultimately reaching life goals.

Nabeela combines her knowledge and skills of counselling, psychology, life-coaching and NLP in an effective, unique and dynamic way.  She has established her practice at a wellness centre in Benoni called The Living Studio.
