Jumah Khutbah against child and woman abuse

What a moving Khutbah, I head today. The Imaam was very dynamic. He spoke about how Islam came to empower woman by abolishing the practise that was rife in pagan Arabia of burying children alive. He told us the story of Umar (RA) and the Nile, a beautiful story against woman abuse. He spoke about how we abuse our mothers, sisters, spouses and children mentally, physically and emotionally. He spoke about the rights of unborn children. May Allah protect us from performing or experiencing such acts.

What moved me to core was his warning he gave to all the woman batterers, child bashers and molesters.

TO ALL YOU WHO ARE BEING ABUSIVE TO ANOTHER HUMAN BEING ESPECIALLY WOMAN (AND CHILDREN), BE WARNED OF THE DAY WHEN YOU STAND IN FRONT OF THE CREATOR OF THAT  PERSON/WOMAN.

THEY MAY NOT BE ABLE TO STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES TODAY BUT BE WARNED OF THE DAY YOU STAND UP IN FRONT OF THE CREATOR OF THAT DEFENSELESS MOTHER OR CHILD.

Interesting to see this intiative has also started internationally

The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) equated perfect belief with good treatment towards one’s wife when he said: “The most perfect believer is one who is the best in courtesy and amiable manners, and the best among you people is one who is most kind and courteous to his wives.” The Prophet (SAW) also said: “The best among you is the one who treats his family best.” (Tirmidhi)

The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children is a United Nations campaign. It takes place annually from the 25th November (International Day of No Violence against Women) to the 10th December (International Human Rights Day). Since 1999 the South African Government has run a parallel campaign that includes issues relating to violence against children. This campaign focuses primarily on generating an increased awareness of the negative impact of violence on women and children as well as society as a whole.
