I was trying to figure out who Elaine Macdonald reminded me of. Then it clicked, kideo. She was Molly Metronome in Kideo. I knew her from somewhere but just could not place her. Elaine has a talent for children story telling. I see LION is a cute story. As you read you can feel most of the story is rhyming and easy to read. Illustration by Vanessa Mearns is colourful and matches the story well. The font of the story is good size. Sometimes especially with kids stories less words is more. This book is written in concise way. About all of a sudden all the jungle animals receiving woollen clothing. As you walk in the jungle it is bizarre everyone even the giraffe has scarf to fit his long neck. Then we realise who the busy body is that has great concern for all to feel warm this coming winter.

About the book

I See a Lion  tells the tale of a lion who is wearing woolly socks. When the rest of the lion family appears, all of them are dressed for winter, in hats, scarves and mittens. When asked why, Lion replies that winter is coming, and he doesn’t want his family to catch a cold. Soon the other animals are also wearing warm clothing. But where are the items coming from? It doesn’t take long before they realise that Spider is using her spinning skills to make sure they all stay warm and cosy for the winter.
