Glad the march went of peacefully. In the evening in our sleepy suburb we managed to catch a glimpse of the march. To all those that made it from Joburg to Tshwane well done on the 62km Comrades Marathon
I can’t seem to find the proper info from AFTER Sandton to Pretoria. I have received an sms to say Old Pretoria road is going to be closed. Anyway this is what I could find for the other parts.

Thousands of ANC Youth League supporters are expected to walk from the Johannesburg CBD to Pretoria on Thursday as part of an “economic freedom youth mass action”. After being denied permission to hold a vigil outside the Union Buildings on Thursday night, the league secured the Caledonian Stadium in Pretoria as a venue.
The routes for the Mass Action are as follows:
Participants will garther at the Beyers Naude Square from 08h00am on the 27th of October 2011 and move to the Chamber of Mines to deliver the memorundum at 10h00.
The following is the route which will be used during the procession:
From Beyers Naude the procession will join
- South with Simmonds Street
- Then West into Marshall (Chamber of Mines)
- Depart from the Chamber of Mines East with Marshall
- Join North into Simmonds and North with Biccard Street
- Then East into Smit then North with Rissik North with Metro Boulevard
- Then East into Hoofd, then North into Joubert Ext
- North with Victioria, then North with Oxford, North with Revonia.
- Then West into West Streets (JSE), then East into Fredman
- Then South into Pretoria, East into Katherine Street
- North with Katherine Street, East into Malboro.
- North into Old Pretoria R101 Proceeds to Pretoria on R101.
- The procession will go inside Tshwane through R101, joining Portgieter.
- Turn right on Proes Street until Hamilton Street
- Turn right on Hamilton Until, and join the necessary streets and routes until Caledonian Stadium.
- On the 28th of October 2011, all protestors will leave the Caledonian Stadium at 08h00 to the Union Buildings to handover the memorandum of demands before 10h00.

REMINDER: that the ANCYL protest march will take place on Thursday, 27th October 2011. It is anticipated that a group of approximately 5 000 to 10 000 will gather at the Beyers Naude Square (Jhb CBD) early in the morning, from where they will march to the Chamber of Mines and hand-over a memorandum at 10:00.
The marchers will then proceed from Jhb CBD to the JSE, in Sandton Central via Oxford / Rivonia Road and into Maude Street where a memorandum will be handed over at 14:00. Johannesburg Metro Police and South African Police Services have confirmed that Maude Street will be closed off between Rivonia Road and West Street for vehicles and pedestrians. The ANCYL have agreed to leave Sandton Central at 15:00 and proceed to the Union Buildings. Gautrain and Sandton traffic to be affected.

– Nelson Mandela bridge and Queen Elizabeth bridge is closed
– The ANCYL’s March takes place today and several routes will be affected. Marchers will gather at Beyers Naude Square in the Joburg CBD at 08h00.
Sauer Street and Simmonds Streets are closed between Jeppe and Market, President, Pritchard also closed in this area. Marshal Street at Sauer is also closed at the Chamber of Mines. The Queen Elizabeth and Nelson Mandela Bridges are closed as well as part of Smit Street in Braamfontein.
The march will move through Braamfontein from 10h00 along Oxford Rd through Rosebank and Illovo and then travel into Sandton via Rivonia Road, left into West Street and then right into Maude Street.
Please use Jan Smuts Avenue or Louis Botha Avenue as alternative routes.
PRETORIA:
The ANCYL March will be taking place later this afternoon, with protestors making their way to the Caledonian Stadium. Routes affected today will include: parts of Nelson Mandela Drive as well as Beatrix, Hamilton and Leyds.
