Written by on October 2, 2021 in Book Club, Self Help

from the author of Surrounded by idiots Thomas Erikson. Which seems to have some blame shifting from what title suggests, this books starts with being accountable for your part of the problem in your setback. Sometimes setbacks can be avoided if you read the trigger warning signs before the crap hits the fan. This gives you some insight on how to read situations and how to take action when you have warning and prompts you take action to get out of the bad situation. Control your reaction is key to success. Thought comes first then emotion then action. So training this is a good idea especially to control anger. stop making excuses and again calls for being accountable for your life choices and enhances your maturity. Stop complaining. Start acting instead of complaining. Change the narrative if you eat junk food make a choice to eat better. Nice framework to deal with complaining

In table write down you complaint. What triggers your complaining. Can anything be done to solve the problem. This is a technique I learnt from Sadatullah Khan. Solve your issues and if you can’t accept it. When complaining complain to someone that can do something about it. Accept setbacks of part of life. Train yourself to deal with hardship the best way. Competence vs Commitment. Life is not always fun. Need to be motivated committed and not give up. There is a comprehensive list of setbacks and you can deal with them by putting in perspective. List your setbacks and score them out of 100 from bad to worse. There after list them and potential possibility. Theres is a huge table of colours called disc model. End of book a scenario of Harry is given and how he deals with setbacks.

About the book: How to handle everything (and everyone) around you when all hell breaks loose, from the international bestselling author of Surrounded by Idiots. Not everything goes the way we want it to – the world or people around us sometimes just spin out of control. Just consider the Covid pandemic for starters. Or how about that mad neighbour you have living next-door to you? Or when work seems to be going down the toilet when the competition keep outsmarting you? So how do you handle everything life throws your way when you’d really prefer to tell everyone to get stuffed? Thomas Erikson will help you turn adversity into success with the help of the behavioural model made famous in Surrounded by Idiots. Starting by reminding us that life is as it is, Erikson helps you see that it is in fact useless to try to control everything happening around you. Instead of protesting when life throws you curveballs, focus instead on how to handle them. Just as you keep the weeds away from the garden to provide space and amazing flowers, you need to find an approach to adversity that works for you and will give you the chance to turn everything into success. Surrounded by Setbacks will help you pinpoint the approach that works for you and will entertain and empower you in equal measure.
