Each year, 18 July is dedicated to engaging in 67 minutes of humanitarian pursuits as our renowned former leader, Nelson Mandela did for 67 years.
During the lead up to Mandela Day, the Nanima Foundation volunteered at the Innovation Workshop in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, assisting Africa Rising for three days with their start-up workshop and coding robotics. The foundation members also spent their 67 minutes on Mandela Day in service of this exciting event.
Girls over the age of 9 years up to Grade 12 learners from Mthatha, Qunu and surrounding areas were invited to attend the event, and were given informative lessons in:
- Entrepreneurship
- How to begin a start-up
- Basic coding and robotics
- Virtual reality design
- Oracle Java.
- Teamwork, problem solving and presentation skills.
The Nanima Foundation were thrilled to be involved in this pioneering project, also assisting Redflight Mobile (based in USA) in their part of the workshop. Lana Love Attorneys were also benefactors of the event. The Nanima Foundation proffers a special mention to Robinne Burrell and Phillip Eller for all their help.
The Nanima Foundation inspires the volunteer in us all to put forth our own 67 minutes of service to groom our future female leaders.
