My Dadi’s Doughnuts

Yesterday we were visiting my foi (bachoo’s nana bagie’s sister) i.e my aunt and she was telling my father that she made ma’s doughnuts. I was intrigued and we all had a taste of this legacy and treat. My late dadi, may Allah grant her Jannah made a delicious treat. I was very surprised to hear that doughnuts were from those years so I asked for the recipe.

 

Ingredients

125g margerine or butter

3 quarter cup sugar

1 cup sour milk

2 eggs

1 tsp nutmeg

3 cups flour

4 level teaspoon baking powder

add little more flour if you find it to soft

Method

Mix sugar, margerine/butter till cream

Put rest of the ingredients

Make like roti dough ato

These days you can mix in kenwood

Roll it out

Cut with doughnuts cutter

Deep fry in medium heat

TIP: If you fry in to cold oil it will become oily and if you fry in too hot oil it will become raw

Drain out on paper towel

Syrup

2 cups sugar

2 cups water

 

Method

Boil on slow heat

TIP not to crystalise add little lemon juice

 

Finally

Dip in syrup and coconut
