Nanima’s toffee apple experiment

I did not make this design. when I lifted it up it was there just like this. must i freeze it.. then all the computer geeks can come and see this smiley miracle.. 🙂

the recipe I tried

Ingredients

3 cups sugar

1 half cups water

half teaspoon cream of tartar

red/green food colouring

6 wooden sticks or ice lolly sticks

Method

Boil water and sugar until thick or unti it coats the back of a spoon. Add cream of tartar

Add colouring

Insert wooden sticks

Dip apples in mixture and place on wax paper

I got this from a friend and it worked beautifully every time.

3 cups sugar
3 quarter cup water
1 tbl sp butter
2 1/ 2 tbl sp golden syrup
1 1/2 tbl sp vinegar
Boil together to hardball consistency.
Makes app 13 apples

Some tips for getting syrup to stick

Fowzia Jassat-Vawda says hardball consistency is when u drop a little syrup into cold water and it hardens on contact.the syrup has to boiled for quite a while to get to this stage so be patient 🙂

Nasreen Seedat U must wash the apples in very got water and dry them thoroughly so the syrup sticks 🙂

Ayesha Umar – U should try to get a candy thermometa it abit pricey but itsa gud buy. it wil show hardbal n other dif stages for makin other candies n its a whole lot easier.
