Example of Good deeds – Amal Saleh

“By time, Verily Man is in loss. Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual enjoining of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy.” Al-Asr

The reward for doing a good deed is heavenly. We hear about how beneficial doing righteous deeds are but most us don’t know where to start. I asked my facebook friends what they thought were good righteous deeds and this is what we came up with.

What is most important is to have the correct intention
1. Smile
2. Greet one another
3. look after orphan
4. look after the widows…
5. give charity
6. make lots of zikr
7. remove obstacles from the road
8. Visit the sick
9. Enjoin the good
10. Forbid the evil
11. Clothe a poor person…
12. Teach one verse of the Quran…
13. Memorize one verse of the Quran
14. Read Quran
15. Buy a Quran and gift it as a “Waqf” to a local mosque
16. Buy a gift for your mom, dad, brother, sister, spouse.
17. Listen to an online course
18. Read a good beneficial book
19. Plan your Ramadan
20. Teach someone a new hadeeth/Dhikr
21. Give dawah to a non-Muslim friend
22. Buy food for a poor person and deliver to their house (even better buy food enough for a whole month and give it to them, e.g. rice, oil, flour, meat..etc)
23.plant a tree
24. provide sincere advice
25. save the whales
26. speak the truth
27. play with your kids
28. seek knowledge
29. share knowledge
30. forgive
31. be kind to your parents
32. pray for your parents and their parents… Read more
33. keep family ties
34. unite two brothers
35. help others in secret
36. donot disrespect other religions
37. pray for others in secret
38. be kind to yourself
39.Let children win games
40. Give water i.e waterwell or borehole
41. Educate someone
43. Build a masjid – or donate towards it
44. help someone in distress
45. Be good to your neighbours
46. Recycle
47. Don’t litter
48. Give way to other motorists
49. Take 40 steps after a meal to see if your neighbour has eaten
50. Make sabr – Patience, make shukr- be grateful and make dua for the Ummah of Nabi SAW
51. donate your old books, clothes that you are not using
52. Attend a funeral especiallu Janazah
53. Perform salaah in congregation
54. Show gratitude to your teachers
55. Don’t waste – feed the birds…
56. Reply when someone sneezes
57. Use a miswaak
58. Be in state of wudhu
59.Treat your women well and be kind to them, for they are your partners and committed helpers
60. LASTLY – SPEND TIME WITH YOUR NANIMA or an elderly person especially the lonely and depressed. Take them out for the day, take them to do their chores and be patient with them.
