SAVE ELECTRICITY The electricity crisis is adding a real panic in the country. 7 more years of this. Gas tanks and lanterns that can be recharged are few and far between. Don’t you think rechargeable items are just going to add to the electricity strain. Look for other alternatives like solar. Some tips, switch of geysers especially during peak times. Remember to switch it back on before you sleep. Switch of all plugs that are not in use. Switch of your pool pumps.Don’t leave chargers on plugs switched on if you are not charging. At work before you make your mass exodus when the lights go, make sure your computer is switched off, the lights are switched off and especially the air conditioner. At night you see so many office buildings with lights on and no one around. When you go home early please don’t abuse the electricity there. For more tips to be more energy efficient visit Eskom Demand management electricity saving tips and for the schedule Load schedding schedule

NANIMA’S REMEDY

Blood Stain removal
So you’re a tough guy, huh? Well, if you’re still conscious, rinse your garment thoroughly in cold water, then soak it with a dash of ammonia for 20 minutes. Use stain remover to spray the area and soak it for several hours if necessary. You should then launder the garment with an enzyme detergent. If the stain persists, spray your garment with hydrogen peroxide, let it soak for a few minutes and then launder again.

NANIMA’S GREEN FINGERS

Geyser Energy efficieny Geysers are one of the big culprits of electricity wastage and more carbon emissions. Make your geyser energy efficient Switch of geyser at peak times
Install a geyser blanket,
Turn down the thermostat to 60 degrees C
Insulate at least the first 1,5m of hot water outlet pipes and 1 meter of the cold water pipes,
Use less hot water, water heating accounts for 30% – 50% of the electricity consumed by an average household.
One option for a household is to install a solar water heater which can reduce that number by at least 70%, depending on the system selected.
