Wedding Blues A concerned and proactive Nana from Mafikeng is fed up of the inconsideration and time delays at weddings. This is what he has to say. Due to the ever increasing delay and inconvenience suffered at our community's weddings, with the vicious circle of the bride not walking in until the hall is full and the guests refusing to arrive punctually because "the bride will be late anyway," He suggests
A programme should be printed onto the wedding invitation, along with stipulated times. The following is an example only & these times are by no means prescriptive.7:00 PM Guests Arrive and get seated 7:15 PM Bride & Groom party entrance (for those who are really interested in seeing all this) 7:25 PM Welcome, Qirah & Naat
7:35 PM Bride and Groom party representative speeches 7:40 PM Du'a 7:45 PM Supper
This will leave sufficient time after supper to congratulate the hosts & wish them well, meet other friends & family members, let guests AND hosts have a good night's sleep or time to travel home and more time to digest the food! A similar programme can be included for the Nikah ceremony as well. In important proviso is that the organisers' stick to the stipulated times on the programme.
A Tip: a single or two course meal is not only healthier; it will also assist in speeding up supper and leave more time to meet friends & family.
