I'm teaching maktab madrassa, kids under 6, so none of them can read or write yet. Just wanted to know.... what would you like or expect your child to learn at madressa, ages 4 to 6?
And for those parents who sent, or are sending their children who cannot read or write yet to madressah, what kitaabs are the teachers using?

Right now I plan to do:

Fiqh - istinja, cleanliness of body and surrounding, basic wudhu, salaah names and postures (we covered that last year, but this year inshallah will concentrate on wudhu and salaah)

Aqaaid - a few of Allah's 99 names, with the meaning and activities to make the child understand those qualities. I dont plan to make them memorise the 99 names yet. do you think I should?

History - The story of Adam (a.s.), (tie it in with Allah's name, Al Khaliq, the creator.) The story of Yunus (a.s.) in the whale. And inshallah some seerah of Nabi s.a.w, but very basic.

Arabic - classroom words, kitchen words, colours...

Ahadeeth? Do you think your child could learn some ahadeeth at that age? I thought maybe a few shorts ones for the years, mostly ones to do with akhlaaq. eg. Be generous to the guest. ... Get children to talk about what things they'd do to help and make life comfortable for their visitor..

Anyway, waiting to hear your suggestions....

sorry, forgot to ask about surahs and duas! How many do you think they should cover in a year? I only teach for an hour, so can't do too much.
