NANIMA'S PANCHAAT
MADIBA BANDWAGON:Tata Madala Madiba Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born 90 years ago. Happy Birthday! I was lucky to have met him before the 1994 elections. He was very kind hearted and considerate. I was so excited to see my dedication to him on Al Jazeera before the 46664 concert in London this year. I was even more excited to see that Zelda was still by his side.NANIMA'S WISE WORDS "A society that does not value its older people denies its roots and endangers its future." Madala Nelson Mandela NANIMA'S TVNelson Mandela speaks about Ubuntu -The first Nelson Mandela interview NANIMA'S REMEDYOsteoporosis Remedy The past few months I have noticed a few elderly people in my family and friends have either gone for a hip replacement, knee replacement or fractured something or another after falling. Madiba was not looking to great either compared to other Southern African leaders his age. Osteoporosis is a disease of bone in which the bone mineral density (BMD) is reduced which means one has a low bone mass and deteriorating bone tissue. Fish oil containing EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and GLA (gamma linolenic acid) is not only an effective safeguard against osteoporosis, it also improves the skin and brain function and avoids cardiovascular problems. dancing, walking, or bouncing on trampolines. Exercise for at least thirty minutes comprising of weight-bearing exercise such as walking, jogging, dancing, bouncing on trampolines, three times a week. Weight lifting, strength training, resistance training --these are all names for exercises in which you strengthen your bones and muscles by lifting weights or otherwise working against resistance (such as using an exercise band). If you are underweight (say, more than 10 percent lighter than the average weight for your age and height), you are at higher risk for a deficiency of calcium and other important vitamins and minerals, which can affect your bones' health. On the other hand, being overweight is no guarantee of bone health either, because even though the extra weight puts a greater load on the bones, it also tends to discourage regular bone-building physical activity. Soak up the sun. Vitamin D is sometimes called the sunshine vitamin for 15 minutes.Shake Your Taste for Salt. Sesame seeds: A handful of sesame seeds had every morning may also help osteoporosis. Stop Smoking.Limit Booze. Eat a banana a day to build your bones. Studies have found that women who have diets high in potassium also have stronger bones in their spines and hips. Researchers think this is related to potassium's ability to keep blood healthy and balanced so the body doesn't have to suck calcium from the skeleton to keep blood up to par. Yoghurt is a good source of calcium for the lactose intolerant. MADALA'S GREEN FINGERSGoat farming basics1. Goats require companionship. Preferably, this would be one or more goats. But if you are limited in either access to purchase another goat or in space, you might choose to keep a sheep, goose or a duck with your goat. 2. Dietary needs of your goat can be easily met through a balanced combination of forages (hay and browse), feed based on grain and grain by-products (corn, wheat, sorghum and even sunflower and cotton seed), and the integrated use of nutritional supplements (minerals, salt) in the feeding program. 3. Clean water is a must. Clean water offered in a clean container is highly recommended. 4. Goats require a sheltered space, free from drafts and damp, yet with adequate ventilation to keep the air fresh inside. 5. Goats living under managed situations need their hoofs trimmed regularly every 3 months -some may require more frequent trimming. In the wild, goats wear their hooves down by scrambling up and down rugged and rocky terrain not usually available in farming situations.
